The best plus500 alternatives in 2019

The Best Plus500 Alternatives in 2019, plus500 alternatives.
Are you looking for the best alternatives to plus500? I don't think plus500 is a great platform. And I think it's a really bad platform for newer traders.

If you've lost money on plus500 or you're just looking for a better trading platform, read on to find out my top picks.

The best plus500 alternative: etoro

In my opinion etoro is the best alternative to plus500. Here are some of the reasons why I think you should be trading there and not using plus500.

Copy trading

Etoro has a really neat feature called copytrading.. Instead of making trades on your own, you can automatically copy the trades made by more experienced and profitable traders. So if a trader makes a 20% return over the year, your account will make that same 20% return. That's because everytime they make a trade, your account will make the same trade.

If you've tried trading on your own and ended up losing money, then I would recommend giving copytrading a try.

Disclaimer: 62% of retail investor accounts lose money when trading cfds with this provider. You should consider whether you can afford to take the high risk of losing your money.

Huge range of markets to trade

You can trade pretty much everything on etoro that you can also find on plus500. That means you can trade stocks, forex, commodities, cryptos and more. Plus etoro has dedicated sections for etfs and they even have managed copyportfolios which are made up of themed stocks like gaming, cannabis and CRISPR.

Trade without leverage

The number one reason you've probably lost money on plus500 is you've been trading with leverage. Leverage is a powerful tool, but I never recommend it for newer traders. On etoro it's possible to change the amount of leverage you use on a trade by trade basis. Plus for certain assets, you can trade them without leverage. On plus500 you can't change the leverage. This means that your losses will be amplified. I often trade on etoro without using any leverage. For example when I trade cryptocurrencies or stocks, I use 1x leverage (i.E no leverage) which means I can keep the positions open for longer term gains without having to pay any fees.

A metatrader alternative

If you're looking to trade using metatrader instead of plus500's web trader interface than I would recommend XM. They are a forex broker which uses that platform. It's my top pick because they have tight spreads and you can start trading with a relatively small amount of capital. Personally I hate using MT4/5 but if it's what you're used to I can understand.

The best web trader alternative

If you want to continue trading using a web trading platform, but don't want to use plus500, then my pick would be etoro. In my opinion they have the best designed and most powerful web trading interface. They also have good charting tools – so you won't need to pay for a third party charting suite.

For buying cryptocurrency

If you're looking to buy some crypto and profit when the price rises, then you definitely shouldn't be using plus500. Plus500 is a trading platform where you can trade crypto. This is much more risky and difficult. If you're looking to buy crypto I would recommend signing up with coinbase.

On coinbase you own the crypto that you buy. You can send it to a wallet of your choice and just HODL it for future profits.

On plus500 you aren't trading real crypto. Instead you are trading a CFD. The CFD will have an expiry so if you don't make a profit before the expiry, your position will be closed out for a loss. If you're looking for crypto CFD trading without an expiry I would once again recommend etoro.

Disclaimer: etoro is a multi-asset platform which offers both investing in stocks and cryptoassets, as well as trading cfds.

Please note that cfds are complex instruments and come with a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage. 62% of retail investor accounts lose money when trading cfds with this provider. You should consider whether you understand how cfds work, and whether you can afford to take the high risk of losing your money.

Past performance is not an indication of future results.

Cryptoassets are volatile instruments which can fluctuate widely in a very short timeframe and therefore are not appropriate for all investors. Other than via cfds, trading cryptoassets is unregulated and therefore is not supervised by any EU regulatory framework.

The best alternatives to plus500

The Best Plus500 Alternatives in 2019, plus500 alternatives.
Plus500 is a popular forex and CFD trading platform. And while it may be perfectly suited for some people, for others it might not be the right place to trade.

Plus500 doesn't support MT4 (popular trading software), VPS or ECN accounts. It doesn't support copy trading and the spreads and fees might not be to your liking. So i've put together some different plus500 alternatives that I think suit different types of traders.

Plus500 targets beginners…but it shouldn't!

One of the big issues with plus500 is that it almost exclusively advertises itself to new traders who have no experience. And as a result, these people signup, deposit some money, make a few trades and go on to lose it. I hate when this happens.

Plus500 doesn't offer any features for newbies to help them become better traders. There are no copy trading or social trading features – which are perfect for beginners! And even though they offer educational material, sadly I doubt many people read them.

Etoro

Etoro is a copy trading platform. You can copy the trades made by other traders automatically. Copy trading is a great way to learn how to trade and etoro is the worlds largest copy trading platform with over 4 million traders.

So if you've tried trading on plus500 and just lost all your money – it's probably best to give copy trading a go. This way you're not having to make trading calls yourself. On etoro, you browse through the profiles of profitable traders, click a button to copy and now all their trades will be copied in your account.

So my pick for new traders looking for a good alternative to plus500 is etoro.

Easymarkets

Easymarkets (previously easy forex) is a pretty standard forex platform, but they have one interesting feature which I think makes them special – dealcancellation. This feature allows you to cancel a losing trade for free. Think of it as insurance for forex trading.

Easymarkets doesn't have the same range of markets to invest in as plus500 or etoro, but they have just begun offering crypto trading.

XM is the platform I recommend to people looking to trade using MT4 or MT5. Personally, I don't much like metatrader as I find the interface a bit clunky. But many traders love it. Plus500 doesn't offer metatrader so if you're looking for a platform that does, give XM a try.

They offer very competitive spreads and they certainly are targeted towards pro traders. If you feel like you've outgrown plus500, then XM could be the option for you.

So there you have it – 3 good platforms that offer vastly different products and all are a good alternative to plus500. Let me know what your favorite alternatives are in the comments.

Cfds are complex instruments and come with a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage. Between 74-89% of retail investor accounts lose money when trading cfds. You should consider whether you understand how cfds work and whether you can afford to take the high risk of losing your money.

You probably shouldn’t trade on plus500

Plus500 Alternatives

Plus500 is one of the most popular CFD trading platforms in australia. It’s definitely the one I see most advertised online. But is it actually a good place to trade stocks and other assets? Here are some of the reasons why I don’t think its a good fit for most people and why you should look into a better alternative. If you’ve been thinking about signing up to plus500, make sure you read this first.

Plus500 is CFD trading and not real stocks

On plus500 you aren’t trading real stocks. Instead you’re trading cfds. These are basically just a contract that tracks the price of the underlying asset. While it will behave the same as a stock in terms of price, there are some additional risks.

The biggest risk on plus500 is leverage…

Plus500 leverage/margin

Trades on plus500 are leveraged. This means you’re using a smaller amount of capital to control a larger amount of an asset. This is risky. Trading with leverage, or margin means that you’re position could be liquidated if the price moves against you.

While leverage can be a powerful tool for professional traders – for amateurs it’s dangerous. It can also be really tricky to understand. Most people shouldn’t be margin trading. Leave that to the pros.

Contracts will close

When you buy a stock, you now own that stock. You can hold it for as long as you like. On plus500 your positions will close. Each contract you trade has an expiry. Your trade will close out automatically when the contract expires. If you’re currently down, you’ll lose money. You can’t hold onto the contract and hope the price will recover.

This means that plus500 isn’t good for long term investing.

Is plus500 good for long term investing?

No. Plus500 positions expire. Remember it’s a CFD, so when the contract expires the position will close. If the position is at a loss when the expiry hits you will lose money. When you own a stock it doesn’t expire. That means you can ride out market downturns for longer term investing strats.

Plus500 for crypto

You can trade crypto on plus500, but I also think its a bad place to do this. Remember on plus500 you’re just trading a contract. You aren’t actually buying the underlying asset. Because crypto is so volatile, I think its smarter to just buy and hold. Trading is just too risky.

Can you buy shares on plus500?

You can trade share cfds on plus500 but when you buy shares you don’t actually own them. You are just trading a contract. So if you’re looking to invest in shares for the long term, then plus500 is definitely not for you. Plus500 could be used for day trading, but that is much more complex and not for the average investor.

Is plus500 worth it?

I don’t think plus500 is worth it for most people. If you’re an experienced trader, then it might be a good platform for you. But if you’ve never traded before then I would highly recommend you look elsewhere.

Better plus500 alternatives

If you are looking to trade shares – then there are platforms that are better plus500 alternatives. If you’re just looking to buy and hold shares, then look for a broker or invest via micro-investing.

In my opinion etoro is a better alternative to plus500. Here’s why:

  • You can trade without leverage – this means you won’t be liquidated when markets are volatile. Trades work just like regular stock trades.

  • Real stocks – etoro has real stock trading for U.S listed stocks. That means when you buy shares like apple, you’re buying the underlying asset. Where on plus500 you are just trading a contract.

  • No holding fees – on non-leveraged positions, you aren’t charged any overnight or weekend fees.

  • No expiry – there are no expiry dates on stock contracts. This means you can buy a stock like apple, and hold onto it for months and profit from longer term gains

  • Copytrading – you can copy the trades made by more experienced traders.

You can find out more about etoro here.

Commsec vs plus500

Plus500 and commsec are very different platforms. On commsec when you buy shares you actually own them. On plus500 you are just trading contracts. So if you’re looking to buy ASX listed shares, then commsec would be a better option. For international shares I would recommend stake or etoro.

Other options:

  • On stake you can trade U.S listed stocks without commissions.

  • On IG you can trade cfds like plus500 but you can also trade real stocks.

Practice trading

If you are looking to start trading, then I recommend you start with a practice account. You can open a practice account on plus500. I recommend etoro as a good place to practice trade. Just because they have social features where you can interact with experienced traders.

If you’re looking to learn about trading, then easymarkets offers a pretty good education section including a full trading course.

  • Plus500 bietet keine mikrokonten an

  • Plus500 bietet keine ECN-konten an

Is plus500 a legit broker?

Yes, plus500 ltd is listed on the main market section of the london stock exchange, and they are licensed in multiple countries.

  • United kingdom: owned by plus500uk ltd, 78 cornhill, london EC3V 3QQ, which is authorised and regulated by the FCA (financial conduct authority), with license number 509909.

  • Europe: operated by plus500cy ltd which is licensed and regulated by cysec with license number 250/14.

  • New zealand: derivatives issuer licence FSP #486026 authorises us to issue these products to new zealand residents.

  • Israel: plus500il ltd is licensed by the israel securities authority.

  • Singapore: plus500sg is licensed and regulated by the MAS (monetary authority of singapore), license CMS100648-1.

  • South africa: plus500au pty ltd is an authorized financial services provider, by the FSCA license number 47546. You do not own or have any rights to the underlying assets, read the disclosure documents available on the official website.

  • Australia: plus500au pty ltd, ACN 153 301 681, AFSL # 417727, issued by the australian securities and investments commission (ASIC) is authorized to issue these products to australian residents.

When reviewing and comparing CFD and forex brokers it is important to check that they are actually licensed to operate. The reason to trade with a regulated broker, is that in the event that the broker becomes insolvent, your money is protected.

There are many CFD forex brokers to choose from online, and each one has their own unique features. Smart investors always choose to trade at regulated broker instead of a scam broker, because their funds are secure.

Fortrade is a fast growing broker, that is regulated in canada, united kingdom and australia, see here.

The best plus500 alternatives

The Best Plus500 Alternatives in 2019, plus500 alternatives.

I don't think plus500 is a very good option for trading in australia. If you've been thinking about joining plus500 make sure you read this post. There are better alternatives available for trading stocks, buying crypto or whatever else you're using plus500 for.

Here are my top plus500 alternatives:

The best plus500 alternatives for trading U.S stocks

If you're looking to trade or invest in U.S stocks then here are two alternatives that are better than plus500. Why? Because on these two platforms you're actually buying the underlying assets. On plus500 you are just trading a contract that will expire.

On etoro you can trade U.S stocks with no commissions. This means you can buy stocks like apple, netflix, tesla and more without having to pay any commissions. Etoro also has fractional shares. This means you can invest any dollar amount above $50 in a stock to open part of a share. This is great for those stocks like alphabet which are priced over $1000 each!

Stake is similar to etoro. It lets australians buy U.S stocks without commissions. They make money when you exchange money from USD to AUD in the form of a conversion fee. It's not at all noticeable though. Stake has a huge range of stocks that you can invest in (thousands) and like etoro you can also buy fractional shares. You could get started with just $10!

The best alternatives for buying crypto

Plus500 isn't a good place to buy crypto. If you've heard about bitcoin and are looking to buy and hold it, then you shouldn't do it on plus500. That's because you're not actually buying bitcoin. Instead you are trading a contract known as a CFD. CFD's can be powerful trading tools, but they aren't for beginner investors. When you trade bitcoin on plus500 you are trading using leverage and the contract you trade will expire. So it's not for holding a long term position.

If you just want to buy bitcoin then may top recommendation would be coinspot. They make the entire process super easy and simple to understand. So if you've never bought bitcoin before, you'll have no troubles – even if you have no experience with exchanges.

Btcmarkets

Btcmarkets is similar to coinspot. They too are based in australia but in opinion they are a bit more difficult to use. The platform is targeted more towards traders rather than individuals looking to buy bitcoin.

The best plus500 alternative for CFD trading

Plus500 is a CFD trading platform. While CFD trading isn't for everyone, if you are a trader then it could be an option. I recommend etoro vs plus500 when it comes to CFD trading. I think etoro has a better interface and it also gives you the option to trade without leverage. Something you can't do on plus500. Furthermore, positions on etoro don't expire. If you're a day trader, this won't be of concern to you, but if you trade using a longer term strategy then etoro is a better option.

Plus500 alternatives etoro

Why I like etoro over plus500

  • Better designed platform – it's easier to use and just looks more professional.

  • Isolated margin – if you are trading with leverage, each trade uses isolated margin. This means you can't lose more than what the position is worth!

  • Trade without leverage – you can open both leverage and non-leveraged positions. Long stock positions without leverage have no ongoing daily or weekly fees! So you can hold stock trades for longer terms strategies.

  • Copy trading – has copy trading features where you can automatically copy the trades of more experienced traders.

  • Real stocks – don't just trade cfds. You can trade real U.S stocks where you own the underlying asset.

So, let's see, what we have: are you looking for the best alternatives to plus500? I don't think plus500 is a great platform. And I think it's a really bad platform for newer traders. At plus500 alternatives
