Option 1: how to install custom mt4 indicators to MT4 charts if your MT4 trading platform is already open
Step 1: download the indicator to your computer
Many times, when you click to download a custom mt4 indicator, by default, it will automatically download to the “downloads” folder in your computer.
But if you click to download and a box pops up asking you where to save it, then save it to the desktop.
Step 2: go to your mt4 trading platform and click “open data folder”
Step 3: click open the “MQL4” folder
Step 4: click open the “indicators” folder
Step 5: paste the custom MT4 indicator into the “indicators” folder
Step 6: close your MT4 trading platform and then restart it
After you’ve saved your custom mt4 indicator in its appropriate “indicators” folder, you need to close your MT4 trading platform that is open and re-start it.
If you’ve never used MT4 trading platform previously and don’t know what to do, the first thing is you need to open up your metatrader 4 chart.
By default, when you download your metatrader4 trading platform from the forex brokers website, it will create an icon on your computer’s desktop.
You search for that MT4 icon and click and then your mt4 chart will open up.

Option 2: steps to install A custom indicator to your metatrader 4 (MT4) trading platform straight into its appropriate “indicators” folder
For this one, you don’t need to have the MT4 chart open.
Generally, when you first downloaded your mt4 trading platform, it creates a folder in you c:drive and the file path tends to be like this:
C:\program files (x86)\metatrader – pepperstone\MQL4\indicators
All you need to do is simply follow the file path, look for your “forex brokers” folder in C drive and then find the indicators folder and save or paste your custom mt4 indicator there.
And then open up your metatrader4 chart and follow the last step in option 1 above to show the indicator on your mt4 chart.

- Make sure that microsoft .NET framework 4.5 is installed on your system (check and install).

- Open any new chart and drag soft4fx forex simulator onto this chart.
Forex simulator will clear the chart by removing all eas, indicators and graphical objects, so it is always safer to use a new empty chart.
Configuration window will appear. Select inputs tab.
Enter e-mail address which was used to buy the program (the one you entered in paypal) in the e_mail input field. Enter your activation code in the activation_code input field.
E-mail and code have to be entered every time when starting the simulator. However, you can use save and load buttons to store them and avoid typing errors.
Leaving the fields empty will make the simulator work in demo mode.
Make sure your computer is connected to the internet.
If you are working on a laptop, plug it in. Laptop working on battery may sometimes offer lower performance to save energy. It is also advisable to use cable internet connection instead of wifi when downloading historical data. Wifi is usually much slower.

How to install indicators on MT4 [beginners’ guide]
How to install indicators on MT4 is very relevant to all traders as it allows them to configure analytical tools to point existing or developing market trends. Seeing those trends early gives a trader the ability to estimate where the market is going to go next and take a trading position accordingly. It’s not magical like a crystal ball. The indicators take extensive statistics and probability and visualize them on easy to read add-ons to your MT4 charts.
Installing indicators on MT4 comes down to:
- Downloading the files (.Ex4 and .Mq4 formats)
- Placing them in the MT4 “indicators” data folder
- Closing and re-starting your MT4 terminal
- Dragging you indicator from the navigator to the forex chart
This guide will teach you how to install indicators on MT4 and add them to your charts.
How to install indicators on MT4
Note: this guide assumes that you have already downloaded and installed metatrader 4. If this is not your case, we suggest that you check our article on how to use metatrader 4.
Before getting into the details, it is important to clarify that there are two main types of MT4 indicators:
- Built-in MT4 indicators: this group includes pre-installed indicators like moving averages, MACD, ATR, RSI, among others.
- Custom MT4 indicators: are programs developed independently in MQL4 and they aren’t part of the standard MT4 installation package.
For built-in MT4 indicators, you won’t need to worry about their installation, since in the process of installing MT4 you should see that the indicators files will be downloaded and installed as well.
Moreover, after you complete the MT4 installation, make sure to check the indicators directory in the navigator window of your MT4 terminal:
However, if you need to modify or you want to remove one of the built-in indicators, you can always follow these steps to access the files in your computer:
- Go to your file tab and move down the menu to the “open data folder” selection, this will trigger a new screen.
- Then, you can navigate to the folder that says “ MQL4 ”. In that folder, you will find the next subfolder named “indicators”.
- After that, you will see the list of all the MT4 indicators files that were pre-installed on your computer. Also, you will notice that all of them come with a couple of files in .Ex4 and .Mq4, which are the valid formats of MT4 indicators.
- If you perform any changes, you will need to restart your MT4 platform as well.
- Check the indicators directory in the navigation window to verify the changes.
How to install custom indicators on MT4
On the other side, custom indicators work a bit differently as they are specialized tools or analytical add-ons that experienced traders have been building and creating for different purposes. They tend to be for isolated and very specific scenarios versus general market trend tracking.
Installing MT4 custom indicators is not difficult, we will illustrate this process with one of our favorite custom indicators, the forex dashboard multiple timeframe indicator for MT4.

Download and prepare the MT4 indicator file(s) so they are ready to go on your computer.
For instance, we have downloaded and saved them in a new folder. Please note that some custom indicators will come in a .Rar file, so make sure to extract the .Ex4 and .Mq4 files:
Then, go back to your metatrader 4 platform, click the file tab and select “open data folder” to get access to the system folders for the MT4 program:
Again, go to the “ MQL4 ” folder and the “indicator” subfolder:
Just like generic indicators, you will need to open the “indicators” subfolder:
after that, you can drag or copy and paste the custom indicators files to the “indicators” subfolder:
Close all the folder windows and restart the MT4 program. When MT4 loads again, you should see your custom indicator added to the directory in the navigation window:
How to add MT4 indicators to your charts
It’s time to give your MT4 indicators a try. Go into your MT4 program and choose a currency pair chart.
Next, go to the navigation window and scroll down the menu to “indicators”, pick the one you want to use and drag it to your chart.
Note that some indicators might require some inputs to configure their use:
Custom indicators
To add a custom indicator to a chart, go to the navigator window and look for the custom indicator that you have previously installed. In this case, we will look for the forex dashboard custom indicator.
Then, you can left-click it and drag it to your chart.

1. Right click on the indicator link
2. Choose "save as" or "save link as" to download the indicator.
To install your newly downloaded indicator to MT4, please use the following steps:
1. Close metatrader4.

The new indicator is not available under "insert -> indicators -> custom" (nothing listed under "custom")

That might not be related to MT4, but rather to your administrator rights on your PC on the disk C or in programs folder.
Thus try installing MT4 into another folder in order to eiminate this problem.
I am really in over my head with this. Using parellels on a macbook pro. Do not have a broker, am wanting to use MT4 with stealth forex, the martin bottomley program that's been on the market now for about 9 years. Do I need to register with a specific forex broker in order to complete setup? I never imagined this would be so confusing. Hoping it won't take 3 or 4 weeks to get MT4 saddled up with stealth.

Hello, you didn't make a deposit within 7 days, so the account was converted to demo. You can make a deposit to convert the account back to real and to receive startup bonus 100% instead of the current profit. In order to withdraw the startup bonus 100% you need to trade enough volume of trades in lots according to clause 11 of the bonus agreement. All conditions for the startup bonus you can find in the startup bonus agreement.

Instaforex has been my broker since 2017. I am happy that I finally found a broker that caters to everything that I am looking for. The trading cost at this broker is relatively low, the trading platform is stable (and mind you, they have multiple platforms which all work perfectly), and their customer service is outstanding. So far, my favorite platform is their mobile platform. It is very handy so I get to access my account anytime and anywhere.

I am satisfied with instaforex services but some issues are being faced by me. When my order is going on profit and i want to stop it but it does not stop and when i lost this opportunity than i have to switch off net and again restart mrtratrader 4. Which is a fraud and deceive to their clients. Some time money transfer instantly from skrill to instaforex but many time we have to w8 for 24 hours. When our account is going on loss and we try to deposit to save our account but we faced loss due to non credit of amount timely in our account. An other problem that spread between currencies changed daily. Which must be fixed or be waved off. Their spread is much more than other brokers.

Unfortunately, profit which is made by using a startup bonus cant be withdrawal unless you follow all the rules of the bonus system. We kindly suggest you look through all the conditions and if you still need help you can write to the support service. Also, we looked through your account history with the support service and didn't find anything. The documents that you sent never delivered to us. Did you upload them on the website or the instaverify app?

If they gave a 500$ startup bonus. It doesn't mean you can trade and withdraw any profit you made by that amount. You need to deposit and u will get bonus according to that. So first check out their startup bonus aggrement and then make a comment.

Don't trust your money to instaforex. The MT4 platform has very bad order execution during a volatile time. Countless requotes and failed connection messages. They don't like you to win. I gave also an account with fibo and that one is working perfectly comparing with instaforex. Considering to close all open positions and leave. Instaforex account 3653569

Instaforex is my second forex broker and this is far better than my previous broker. I am happy that I found this broker because they have everything that I am looking for a broker. Their trading cost is not high, their platforms are all working perfectly, orders are executed instantly, and they offer various trading programs to their clients. Somehow I can say that instaforex made trading much easier for me. I used to trade in another broker and their tools are so complex and I just really can't catch up with the system. But now that I am with instaforex, the platform is so easy to use but the tools are still not behind. Also, this broker really provides helpful materials to their clients. I cannot withdraw money back. They say the system reject. At end they told me to withdraw to payco. That's another fraud. I think payco and instaforex play together. The amount credited to payco and we cannot withdraw from payco.

Do not sign up. You will not get a bonus. When you try to claim a bonus they give you the run-around and lots of BS (sounded like copy and paste response). The platform is bad. Response time even worse on the platform. On-line help / support is NOT available 24 hours a day on week days. Half of the time the platform does not respond to either closing or opening with trades. It also takes very long to get a response via email. I would NOT recommend this broker. Very dishonest.

I have to say that instaforex giving outstanding service. I am not so skilled trader and I have not that much time to trade, so I am just using their PAMM service, which is very profitable for me. I invested $ 800 and every month I earned around $250. My withdrawal requests are comes to my account within same day. Never experience any withdrawal delay. If you have no experience in forex I would recommend invest on PAMM service because here risk in very low and change to make stable profit.

First time open acc with instaforex. I deposit using online banking. Supposedly it take 1-7 hours. Unfortunately after one week still pending. Now the transaction history in client cabinet was missing. Very bad. Never experience deposit problem with any broker before this.

How to install FXSSI pro indicators
To install the "FXSSI pro indicator pack" correctly, please follow these instructions. If something goes wrong during the installation, you can contact our support team.
Here is the step-by-step instruction:
STEP 1 – download indicator pack
To download the indicators, go to the page of any indicator marked with the "pro" label. Then, click the download button in the top-right corner of the screen.
The "FXSSI pro pack" file you are downloading includes the following indicators:
- FXSSI.Orderbook;
- FXSSI.Currentratio;
- FXSSI.Ratios;
- FXSSI.Profitratio;
- Etc.
The archive also includes a DLL library, which is necessary for the proper functioning of the indicators.
STEP 2 – open MT4 data folder
Now, you have to open the MT4 terminal root directory. For this, click on file → open data folder.
You will see a window with the working folders of your terminal. Find the MQL4 folder and proceed to the next step.
STEP 3 – extract indicators from the .Zip file to the MQL4 folder
You have previously downloaded an archive with indicators (file name: [fxssi.Com] _pro-indicators-pack.Zip)
Extract the contents of the ZIP file to the MQL4 folder. If the system asks for file replacement, click – yes.
It is important to keep the path to the files as in the ZIP archive:
/MQL4/indicators/FXSSI.Com important! Please do not change the indicators file names, or their initial location, for the auto-update to work correctly.
STEP 4 – refresh or restart MT4
After installation, for the indicators to appear in the navigator window, restart the terminal or right mouse click – refresh.
If you cannot find the navigator window, use the ctrl + N shortcut.
As a result, you will see the FXSSI.Com folder in the navigator window, which contains the indicators.
STEP 5 – allow DLL imports to run indicators
Drag the indicator to the chart. In the appeared window, go to the common tab and check the allow DLL imports box.
The indicator should be displayed on the chart.
If you receive the "invalid file path…" message, please return to step 3 and read the instructions carefully.
You can also allow the default DLL import. To do this, press ctrl + O and go to the expert advisors tab. Here you will see the allow DLL imports option. Check the box and click OK.
STEP 6 – authorization
You must go through the authorization procedure, for indicators to work on your MT4 terminal.
When you first start the indicator, you will see a window with the authorization link.
After clicking the link, you will be offered to sign in to your account.
If nothing happens after you click the link, try to log in manually. You can read detailed instructions on how to do this in this article.
After you sign in, your terminal will be attached to your account, and the indicators will work properly.
Why do we need a DLL for indicators to work?
Our indicators are a bit different from those you are used to. They use server data to display information. So for the proper indicator functioning, we need to connect to the server to receive data. And this can be done only by using the DLL library.
Permission to use DLL will not affect your current or future transactions.
System requirements
- Windows 7 and higher;
- .NET 4.0 or above;
- Processor with a clock frequency of 1 ghz and above;
- 512 MB of RAM;
- 500 MB free hard disk space;
- Screen resolution 1024×768.
